Below are five questions to ask yourself to ensure that you and your team are ready to crush it in 2016!

Motivate Your Team for Success in 2016

Did you have the tough, honest talks?

In order to improve from last year, you must be willing to dive into every task, no matter how difficult. If there were deadlines missed, find out why so you can avoid that in the future. If there was a department lacking, get to the bottom of it. In everything you do, do it with an honest eye to avoid overlooking a potential issue. Most importantly, dissect the areas where your business was successful, to understand why, and keep that trend going.

What could have been done better?

After having the tough conversations, you should have a solid understanding of where your team was successful and where they weren't. Once you’ve located the areas of potential improvement, focus on the ones that are within your control. Come up with a solution to solve those issues, but don't do it on your own. Your team is in the trenches every day, they often have the insight you need to fix these problems! Like most things, this should be a collaborative effort.

Is everyone pulling from the same side of the rope?

It is imperative that your team is pulling from the same side of the rope to be successful. A culture boost is a great way to kick off the new year. Maybe there's a new employee perk to unveil or even a quarterly contest to announce, it'll get the team excited and ready to rock. Another key factor in the synergy of a team is transparency. Make sure your team is aware of the company’s plans and goals; it will pay dividends in their commitment.

What’s your plan?

Having a plan is the key to success in most aspects of life. It is important to know how you will achieve your goals, and a plan will accomplish that. It gives your team a step by step guide of how to be successful throughout the year. Set KPIs that match your goals and hold the team to those metrics. Have your target clients in mind for the year and set the expectation of success for your team! Having a plan in place will build confidence for your team!

What’s the end goal?

Possibly the most important piece of this equation is your end goal. It's impossible to strive for success without first defining it. Once you have a clear end goal in mind, your plan will fall into place, and the buy-in from your team will follow. This goal will serve as your motivator for the year, and should be visible to the team at all times.
