Blogging is one thing we've found that more and more businesses are rolling their eyes at, wondering, "Why would I waste my time with a blog?" We understand the frustration of trying to take on one more thing to run a business, but the secret to blogging is that it doesn't have to be difficult or time consuming, and the payout is definitely worth it! Read on for our reasons why, and how. Why Businesses Should Blog

1. Google will love you

The more relevant content you share on your website, the better you will rank in Google organic searches, and the better your ads will perform if you are running advertisements through Adwords. Search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc) want valuable content and will reward you for providing it online.

2. Establish credibility for your brand

Let's say your company is a small consulting company offering businesses assistance with digital marketing strategies. This business should have a blog written by your team members that exhibits the services you offer in real life scenarios, offers tips and tricks for different platforms, even providing mock up marketing plans! A blog like this will show readers (and potential customers) that you know what you're talking about, and establish your business as a thought leader in the industry.

3. Get in front of your customers and leads

According to Hubspot, 60%  of businesses who blog acquire new customers using this channel. That percentage alone should be the reason you start a blog today! Blogging can also help you with customer retention, as it shows your current customers that you really know your stuff and are working to stay ahead of the curve.

4. Give your business a voice and a face

The way businesses succeed in the digital world is by establishing connections with people. Connecting with leads and customers, even those consumers who aren't looking to buy and are just searching for an interaction of some kind. Through your blog, you can control the content and messaging that you want people to interact with (your voice). Through photos, infographics, memes and many more outlets, you can create the 'face' of your business, and in doing so, show people who you are.

5. It's simple

While larger companies often hire an in-house writer whose sole purpose is to churn out blog posts each week, this isn't the only solution. You can have content contributors from within the company's departments, hire a ghost writer, or bring on an intern to handle the grunt of it. There are plenty of options when it comes to blogging; it doesn't have to be a pain, especially when the result is more business!
